Dear North Andover School Community,

As we prepare for the start of the 2018-2019 academic year, I would like to introduce myself to the North Andover Public Schools community. Perhaps this is not an introduction for many of you, but rather a reintroduction. For the past twenty years I have been honored to serve this community as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent. Recently, I have been privileged to accept the position of Superintendent for North Andover Public Schools.

I am excited to assume this position as of July 1, 2018. I appreciate that the School Committee trusts me to lead our schools and look forward to working with all of you to provide an excellent educational experience for all of our students.  

Specifically, I am writing to ask for your assistance as I transition into my new role. Although I have been both a North Andover Public Schools administrator and community member for many years, I believe a very important part of the transition process is for me to meet with a wide array of community members to hear your feedback on my entry questions and to identify key issues in our schools. To that end, I invite you to provide your input either by joining me at one of the open meetings listed below to discuss the entry questions in person or by completing the online survey.

The online survey is also available on the district website.   

Over the summer break we will be hosting two open meetings to allow community members an opportunity to discuss the entry questions in person. Meeting dates are: July 31 at 1:00 pm at the Stevens Memorial Library and August 14 at 5:00 pm at NAPS Central Office. In addition, NAPS PTOs will be hosting summer meetings for their school communities. Parents will be notified of school specific meetings as soon as dates are finalized.  

I truly appreciate your taking the time to help me in my entry. I am honored to be a partner in your child’s educational experience. I welcome your input and feedback and hope to see you this summer.

Learning Disabilities Parent Support Group

Please join NAPAC on May 23rd at Steven Library at 7:00 for our first support group. Free and open to all parents.

Looking forward to our first session on May 23, when we will have a parent panel on hand to take questions from the audience.
Our panelists have experience with ADHD and learning disabilities including Dyslexia. Bring your questions!
An informal meet and greet will follow the Q&A session.

Share Your Feedback on the Massachusetts IEP Improvement Project

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) appreciates the feedback you have provided so far on the Massachusetts IEP Improvement Project. As you know from my previous email, we continue to need your help as we continue to make advancements with this initiative.

We are following up with a second survey specific to families, students with IEPs, and other interested parties.  We need your assistance sharing this survey, which is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole. This survey is open now through our deadline of May 18th.
